The Northern Rivers is made up of seven local government areas and a regional water utility, Rous County Council, working together to plan for and deliver the services, infrastructure and growth our communities need. From coastal shires to inland valleys, our councils collaborate closely on shared regional priorities.

Northern Rivers Joint Organisation
The Northern Rivers Joint organsiation (NRJO) is the peak representative body for the region’s seven council. Made up of the Mayors and the General Manager of Ballin, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and the Tweed. The NRJO leads regionsal advocacy and collaboration with the NSW Government on shared priorities from infrastructure to economic development.
Rous County Council
Rous County Council is the regional water utility for the Northern Rivers, delivering bulk water supply and regional water security planning on behalf of its member councils, supporting the growth and resilience of communities across the region.
Together these councils and regional bodies form a strong foundation for collaborative planning across the Northern Rivers. Working across boundaries to secure investment, coordinate infrastructure and support the long term growth of our region. RDA Northern Rivers works closely with all seven councils and the NRJO to advocate for the priorities that matter most to our communities.
