The NSW State Budget 2024/25 was announced this week. Here’s what’s been allocated for the Northern Rivers.
Health
- $723.3 million for Tweed Hospital and Integrated Ambulatory Service redevelopment.
- $263.8 million for Grafton Base Hospital redevelopment.
- $2 million for Ballina District Hospital Redevelopment Planning.
Education
- New public preschools in Lennox Head and Wollongbar.
- Continuation of the Lennox Head Public School relocation and redevelopment.
Community and Justice
- $8.2 million for the replacement of the Byron Bay Fire Station.
Planning, Housing and Infrastructure
- $485 million for the Resilient Homes Program to enable flood tolerance for existing houses including house raisings, repairs, retrofits and voluntary buybacks.
- $87.4 million for the Resilient Lands Program to identify flood-safe land suitable for redevelopment to help relocate Northern Rivers residents impacted by the 2022 floods.
- $5 million for a local government economic and business package for the Northern Rivers to improve the recovery of flood affected towns.
- $3 million to help flood survivors get back into their homes following the 2022 floods in Lismore by supporting the Two Rooms Project.
