Thousands of people are enjoying the Northern Rivers Rail Trail in both the Tweed and Richmond Valley, and they are letting the world know.
The Northern Rivers Rail Trail has earned Tripadvisor’s coveted Travelers’ Choice Award ranking it in the top 10% of attractions worldwide. The award celebrates attractions that have consistently received great traveller reviews on Tripadvisor’s global travel review website over the past 12 months.
This latest recognition adds to four previous wins from the 2023 National Heritage Trust Awards, 2023 Australian Institute of Management Awards, 2023 Parks and Leisure Australia Regional Awards of Excellence and 2024 Engineering Excellence Awards. You can learn more about these awards here.
The economic impact of the Tweed Section of the Rail Trail is also a winner. The recently published Northern Rivers Rail Trail: Tweed Section Economic Impact Assessment Report revealed a 15.7% increase in monthly visitor spending on previous years. Rail Trail businesses also reported increased visibility, foot traffic and, in many cases, revenue.
The Northern Rivers Rail Trail continues to be a key driver of visitation to both the Tweed and Richmond Valley sections. With the construction of the Rail Trail’s South Lismore to Bentley section well underway, Lismore businesses are encouraged to get ‘Rail Trail Ready’ ahead of the Lismore section opening later this year.
