The RDA Northern Rivers’ first Innovation Pipeline Forum, held at the Byron @ Byron Resort on 31 October 2013, was both fully subscribed and exceptionally well received by all attendees – thanks to the expertise of the speakers and the support of NSW Trade & Investment.
Speakers included Ric Richardson one of Australia’s most successful and internationally-recognised inventors. Ric served as both keynote speaker and forum leader. His skill and experience was evident as he interacted with the other guest speakers. Peter Davison spoke of the role he played in the launch of PayPal in the US and his commitment to helping Australian inventors. Andrew Stead drew on his experiences as co-founder and director of the venture capital (VC) investment group Sydney Angels. Doran Ben-Meir, CEO of Commercialisation Australia (CA) explained how his organisation can assist inventors with access to funding and human resources to help them bring their intellectual property to market. Phil Stann, Deputy Commissioner and Assistant General Manager of IP Australia, explained the stages involved in securing a patent and Craig Jenkins from NSW Trade & Investment talked about the role of his Department in assisting local inventors.
The highlights of the afternoon session were a Q & A style panel discussion moderated by the ABC’s Kerry O’Brien and the launch of the Byron Hub, a Wiki created especially for Forum attendees to provide them with access to ongoing support and information. Download a copy of the program HERE
