RDA Northern Rivers, on behalf of NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet, Office of Regional Development, is proud to launch the report Digital Content Production as a Driver of Economic Development in the Northern Rivers Region.
The digital content industry has the potential to be a major industry for the Northern Rivers in the near future,.
The very nature of digital transcends proximity barriers and many of the existing digital production companies in the region are or have the potential to access national and international markets.
The entrepreneurial nature of the digital content industry provides an ideal environment for collaboration. The benefits for emerging and existing digital businesses to be closely located are identified in the report. RDA Northern Rivers is keen to add its support to developing local clusters of digital industries to allow greater access to talent, resources and opportunities for collaboration.
While the local industry continues to grow at a moderate rate, addressing constraints in infrastructure and skills is predicted to have significant improvement on industry growth. With conservative interventions to address barriers, the report predicts regional employment growth in the industry could increase from 200 to over 2,000 new jobs in 2027.
