The latest renewable energy project in the Northern Rivers will be the first community funded biohub in Australia.
The Casino Biohub, to be located adjacent to the Casino sewage treatment plant, will transform organic waste and waste water into energy, clean water and other bio-products. Brisbane-based Utilitas Group, a biohub developer, has partnered with Domacom to raise $4.3 million to secure the site and develop the facility.
Community information seminars are being held in Casino, Lismore, Byron Bay and Ballina to inform community members about the Casino Biohub project and investment opportunities. Seminars will be held in the following Northern Rivers centres:
- Byron Bay Services Club, 12pm to 1:30pm on Friday 13 October (code: Byron)
- Ballina RSL Club, 6pm to 7:30pm on Friday 13 October (code: Ballina)
- Casino RSM Club, 12pm to 1:30pm on Monday 16 October (code: Casino)
- Lismore Workers Sports Club, 6pm to 7:30pm on Monday 16 October (code: Lismore)
There will also be a session in Broadbeach, Qld from 6pm to 7:30pm on Thursday 12 October (code: Broadbeach).
