The Federal Budget, while providing cost of living relief for all Australians through energy rebates and tax cuts, also provided benefits that will support communities and businesses in our region. This includes the following programs:
The Roads to Recovery Program will provide $1.2 billion over five years to NSW Councils, an increase of $461 million, supporting our Northern Rivers Councils much needed road maintenance and repair programs.
Support for businesses will see our local businesses benefitting from:
- extension of the $20,000 instant asset right off,
- a $325 energy bill rebate for eligible small businesses,
- support to build small business cybersecurity and access to free online training through the Cyber Wardens Program,
- 20,000 new free TAFE places to support skills development for the construction industry, and
- Support for social enterprises to engage paid jobseekers placemets for 6 months.

Investment in regional airports ($40 million in competitive grants) and community Wi-Fi initiatives ($40 million).
Investment in healthcare with $227 million for Medicare Urgent Care Clinics and support for regional clinics, and mental health support.
An investment of $6.2 billion in Housing Initiatives, including new home construction and aid for renters.
Other measures, targeted at cost-of-living pressures will have a direct effect on families in our region. These include:
- $300 energy rebate
- Tax cuts for all taxpayers
- Debt relief for tertiary students
