Applications for the position of RDA Northern Rivers (RDA NR) Chair are now open.
What is the RDA NR Chair’s role?
The RDA Chair is responsible for setting strategic direction and ensuring that the objectives and outcomes of the RDA NR Board are achieved. The RDA NR Chair appoints the Deputy Chair (following Ministerial agreement) and the RDA NR Board members.
The RDA NR Chair has a hands-on role and is active in facilitating economic development opportunities for the region. They are required to lead a diverse organisation of individuals working in a complex environment to deliver high-value outcomes for the Northern Rivers region.
They will be a recognised regional leader who will drive economic growth, innovation and entrepreneurship in the region through facilitating investment in people, places, services, and industries and local economies.
The RDA NR Chair will put in place work programs that bridge regional development gaps by working with stakeholders across sectors and diverse communities (especially with First Nations people) and supporting the delivery of identified Australian Government strategic priorities.
They will be very knowledgeable about the Northern Rivers’ economic, social, cultural and environmental opportunities and challenges, be well connected and a strong advocate for our region, and draw our community together to build and drive economic growth.
The RDA NR Chair will provide strategic direction and leadership to the RDA NR Board and ensure corporate governance arrangements are effectively designed and implemented.
They will demonstrate strong leadership to the Board and have a sound understanding of board performance management, including people and organisational management processes.
The RDA NR Chair acts with integrity, transparency, respect and accountability, and champions gender equality opportunities.
They work as an effective member of the RDA NR Board toward a common goal or strategy, and drive projects that target specific areas of economic development for the state/region. They actively support board governance and management processes.

The Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories will appoint the RDA NR Chair.
Applications can be submitted online to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (the Department) using the Online Application Form link on the Join your RDA page. This is the preferred method for submitting an application.
Alternatively, you can download a copy of the Application form from Join your RDA, complete it electronically offline and then email it to the Department’s RDA applications mailbox rdaapplications@infrastructure.gov.au. Handwritten applications will not be accepted.
All applications must include a brief Curriculum Vitae (CV). The online Application Form includes provisions for attaching a CV. If submitting a downloaded Application Form by email, a brief CV must be included as an attachment.
