AgFutures latest research report ‘Accelerating the development of agtech solutions worth adopting’ looks at the digital future of Agriculture.
The research was undertaken by AgThentic’s Sarah Nolet and Cass Mao and explores challenges affecting the uptake of AgTech by the farming sector. It also features opportunities that come with new technologies.
A number of factors that hinder the adoption of technology by producers were identified. These include low connectivity in regional areas, lack of functioning data sets and the newness of the AgTech sector. Another important contributor is the growing number of entrepreneurs in the AgTech sector without real agricultural experience. This can result in products not necessarily being the ‘best fit’ for the agricultural sector. Products need to address the real needs which, according to the report, requires greater collaboration between producers and entrepreneurs.
The report goes on to identify nine opportunities for producers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders involved in agriculture to enable and accelerate the development of agtech solutions worth adopting.
