Posted on 4 Jul 2013 in News

Digi-Advantage program aims to help 100 businesses prepare for the digital economy With additional funding from NSW Trade and Investment, RDA-Northern Rivers is now offering additional subsidies to help small and medium enterprises improve their online presence and prepare for the digital economy. The first 25 graduate consultants of the Digi-Advantage Program, in partnership with North Coast TAFE, have been placed with 30 local enterprises. The additional funding means a further 70 placements can be offered to small-to-medium businesses.RDA-NR Chairman Dr Ian Tiley said: “This is a great opportunity for businesses who want a leg up into the digital economy. The consultants can support them to improve their online capabilities and we are delighted we can offer the program to more businesses in the region.” Ian Newton, Business Capability Consultant for North Coast TAFE added: “Our first graduates from Lismore and Kingscliff are steaming ahead. They are helping small businesses create websites, improve search engine rankings, get started in eCommerce and manage their social media more effectively in support of their business goals.” The new funding also means the program will now be extended to include the Mid North Coast. Training for consultants will commence at Coffs Harbour in the middle of July. RDA-Northern Rivers is working with RDA-Mid North Coast to recruit trainee consultants and business partners. Once the consultants complete their 60 hour training course, they are paired with a suitable business partner for a 20 hour work placement. On paying the consultant’s invoice, the business is reimbursed up to a maximum of $250, making this a very affordable opportunity for time-poor business owners. “We have set ourselves the challenge to train 45 consultants and help 100 businesses by the end of September” says Dr Tiley, “it’s a practical example of how RDAs are playing an active role in supporting regional businesses from a wide range of sectors including agriculture, tourism, retail, personal development and the creative industries.” Businesses wishing to make the most of this ‘Digi-Advantage’ can visit the RDA’s website www.rdanorthernrivers.org.au or contact Donna Graham on 02 6622 4011 or via email innovate@rdanorthernrivers.org.au This activity is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Regional Australia, Local Government and Sport; and NSW Trade and Investment. The training is funded by the NSW State Training Services Strategic Skills Fund 2013. –ENDS–For more information, images or interviews with Digi-Advantage Consultants and Business Partners, please contact Geof Webb on 6622 4011 or at...
